Exhaust Fan CFM Ventilation Calculator
Calculate required minimum and tunnel ventilation fan power to remove moisture and combat heat stress.
Tunnel Airflow (m³/s) = Cross Sectional Area (m²) * Target Airspeed (e.g. 2.5 m/s)
Runtime (%) = (CFM_required / Total Operating Fan CFM) * 100 (in 5-min cycle)
Minimum ventilation prevents moisture accumulation in the litter (avoiding footpad dermatitis and ammonia spike). Tunnel ventilation utilizes wind-chill convective cooling to lower the effective temperature felt by feathered birds during hot weather.
Poultry House Climate & Micro-Environmental Engineering
Maintaining optimal indoor thermal conditions, air exchange rates, and litter dryness prevents respiratory damage and heat-induced mortality. Ventilation must shift smoothly between moisture-removal minimum ventilation and convective cooling tunnel ventilation.
