Heritage breeds such as Rhode Island Red, Sussex, Orpington, and Plymouth Rock are dual-purpose birds providing moderate egg laying and meat yield. They exhibit high disease resistance, excellent outdoor foraging abilities, and weather hardiness, making them ideal for backyard farming and organic free-range operations.
